Are conservatives so simple minded to think that just because a country calls itself socialist that it is?

Do they also think that a country like Congo whose official name is Democratic means it is? Likewise, is North Korea really a "people's republic"? Are conservatives so simple minded that they ume everything a government calls its country is based in reality? Do they seriously take the word of government officials'? So when someone brings up socialism, conservatives automatically bring up North Korea, the Sovjet Union, etc.
