Pressurized water into ice?

So I know that at lower atmospheric pressures, gases can escape from water. It led me to speculate - Since lower pressure loosens the bond between water molecules, would increased pressure strengthen them, perhaps to the point where liquid water, under extreme pressure, turns to ice? At what pressure, given room temperature, would water solidify into ice? If this is possible why? If this is impossible, why is that?
