Should I get a scooter when i move to los angelas?

I live in MA, and i have a car that I am selling and will get anywhere from 2200 to 3 grand for it. I am taking that money and adding it to the additional 2-3 grand i will have saved,and moving to LA to room with my aunt. I will have a job out there, but no vehicle so I am thinking about trying to find a used scooter to get around instead of public tans everyday. Would like to hear from other people in LA, and read some opinions. I have only lived in MA, and out here, having just a scooter is dumb because it snows and rains a lot. I know it doesnt rain much in LA,and im sure if it did,I could just throw on a rain coat and man it out.
