You may already be too late to change their minds. But you can encourage them to want to change. Personally, I think the consequences of getting fired should be no extra money for anything. They want money for movies or to hang with friends then they find another job and learn to keep it. Hopefully that won't lead to them trying to steal stuff from you or others but if it does then the consequences are built into the legal system and I think they should face them.
